Comment: 1 Aug 05 After many, many, many stitches sewn and ripped, replacement, sew and rip...replacement again...sewn again....2 failed blocks, I finally got one successful paper pieced block. I cannot for the life of me do this spacial orientation thing...guess that's why the Air Force didn't accept me in the pilot program. LOL I just cannot picture what it looks like when sewn....so after many trials and frustrations...and I still was not going to let this thing beat me! I knew the concept and I knew it was easy. I just couldn't picture how it was supposed to go! But, I finally did it....here is one of the blocks I am going to do for the patriotic star swap.

Closeup of the front and back. This one I hope, goes to the 5 year old. There are more fabrics for younger boys in this one. I know, I messed up a bit on the backing. The quilt top was a few inches larger than the width of the backing. I had to make the backing in pieces.

The front is made with cotton 6 inch completed squares, 7 across and 7 down.
The backing is a flannel print of robots and space ships.
There is no batting. I figured with the hot climate of Florida, the flannel backing should suffice.
It is bordered and binded by a blue marble cotton.
It is tied with Lion's Brand bright multi-colored yarn. * 500 x 375 * (76KB)

The completed top for the older boy's comfort quilt. * 500 x 375 * (78KB)
